Fitness Journal: Back At It Again

Hey y’all! I am back in full force. I was waiting for the new Bikini Body Mommy series to come out so I could get a fresh start and here we are. Started on May 4th and as luck would have it, I am SICK. Sick as a dog. Monday night I came down with a sore throat which blossomed into a full fledged clu. That’s my word for a combo of the cold and flu. It’s a little more than a cold but it’s not quite the flu. I skipped day 2 yesterday but I managed to get day 2 and 3 in today!

Needless to say I am proud of myself for pushing through this. Cold-Eeze and Nyquil ready to go, I can push through this nasty illness. Hopefully this thing goes away but tomorrow. Oh! Speaking of tomorrow, my work is having it’s monthly birthday potluck and since my birthday is one of the one’s being celebrated I decided to suggest my favorite food. EVER. And that, my friends, is Mexican food. I turned another year older on May 3rd and I am loving every single minute of it. I’m finally at the age where people start taking me serious as an adult.

On other fitness related notes, I finished my 2nd ever 5K in life and it also happened to be my first one in over 2 years. This was about mid-April and my email has been flooded with upcoming 5k’s so I’m amped to announce that I have officially signed up for 1 more and potentially may be participating in another! That’s freaking amazing for me. I can’t wait.

Fitness Journal: Day 29h

Let me just start by saying I had an amazingly relaxing weekend this weekend. Sort of. If you consider housework and chores and meal prepping relaxing. I seem to always make plans and fill my weekends with social things like catching up with friends and family. This weekend I put my foot down and said no. I told my baby girl to get her pjs on after we all got home on Friday because we weren’t going anywhere. By golly, we didn’t. So proud.

I did workout, though. Don’t you worry. Day 29 of the Bikini Body Mommy challenge is complete. Although, she says I’m supposed to up the weight on my free weights but I have yet to do that. Not even really sure if I will. I ended up going on a run in my neighborhood and someone actually got me to do Insanity abs. Holy cow! It was not easy after what I think was about a 2 mile run. Mind you, I have not been running like I used to so I very honestly just jumped back on that horse and am so proud. Minimal stops and uphill battles.

This week’s meal prep is a one pot pasta recipe I found on Pinterest. Wheat spaghetti, zucchini, peas, garlic, Parmesan and heavy cream.

Edite to add that I am incredibly sore. So much that I can barely walk. Victory!!!

Here’s to this week!!!

Fitness Journal: Day 28

Day 28 is here! Well, yesterday it was. I can feel my body getting stronger. I still don’t keep track of my reps but I know that I am starting to complete longer times during my workouts. Almost had an injury but it didn’t happen so that’s a good thing.

Drinking lots of water and still eating better. Probably not the best but I’m doing my best!

It’s probably going to be a double workout day today to catch up again.

Fitness Journal: Day 18

Yeah, yeah so I skipped a few days and you may just notice that in all the days I haven’t blogged that it doesn’t quite add up. I basically took 3 rest days and then tried to catch up by doubling up on my workouts and we just have this huge mess which I’m going to forget. I have completed day 18 of the bikini body mommy challenge. My glutes are sore again but it hurts so good.
I’m currently mowing down on a blueberry muffin and my normal kale/fruit smoothie. I will go ahead and pat myself on the back for finding, and executing to perfection, this soup recipe. It’s a chicken avocado lime soup. Bomb dot com. (woah, where am I? The 90’s?) Anyway, that’s my lunch for the week or at least it was supposed to be. It was such a hit with the fam that they done ate it all up and I have to figure out my last couple days of lunch for the week. What a bittersweet moment for me.

I ate some Pizza Hut somewhere in the last few days. The food part is all kind of a blur but once is better than everyday. Progress. That’s what counts, right?

I shall be completing day 19 and 20 today. Hopefully, I’ll ask my glutes about it later but they might have something different to say.

Fitness Journal: Day 15

So, here we are again. I’ve miserably failed at the jpurnaling thing. But that’s old news. Let’s not dwell on the fact that it actually happened and let’s dig down deep to discover the “why”.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say it’s probably because I enjoyed a hot, greasy, fully loaded meal from Taco Bell and I was too ashamed to write that down. Oh, but it was so freakin good. I over indulged in it, for sure!

Now that the secret is out, let’s talk about some more of the “why”. There was a weigh in for this day and I am exactly the same weight I was when I started. Talk about discouraging. One might be thinking it’s silly to see results that quick but have you forgotten? I am the generation of instant gratification. I am not patient, I want my results and I want them now!

Ok, after typing that I realized how dumb that sounds. I am determined and have my eye on the goal so forward I shall proceed! Onward! I made a nice healthy pasta for my food prep this week. I have a potluck coming up tomorrow but I belive there will be some healthy options for me to choose from.

Fitness Journal: Day 12

No 5 layer dip for me yesterday!!! Yay!!!!

Breakfast: Cranberry and almond oatmeal with my berry/banana/kale smoothie

Snack: Cupcake (yuck. I know)

Lunch: lunch size fajitas with mexican rice and beans

Snack: oats and honey granola bar

Dinner: Baked garlic chicken breast with white rice and zucchini

Snack: garlic bagel crisps

I finished day 12 of the Bikini Body Mommy 90 day challenge. I don’t write down how many reps I get because I just don’t. I do gauge by the seconds I complete within the given interval and I have made improvements. I don’t feel as sore today so I don’t know if that’s good or bad. It makes me feel like I didn’t push myself hard enough. I did have a half a cup of coffee yesterday too, which I haven’t had in about a week and a half. Didn’t do much for me.

I am certainly ready for day 13!!!!

Fitness Journal: Day 11

I am so bad at this journaling thing! I think I am officially deciding that I will journal the day after because I have to work out so late in the evening that I am pooped.

So, yesterday was day 11. I ate fairly healthy. I forget that I need more calories while I’mbreastfeeding so I brought 2 snacks to work and was dying of hunger so I ended up pigging out on 5 layer dip and chips.

Breakfast: Smoothie – frozen berries, frozen bananas, almond milk, and chia seeds

Snack: Oats and honey granola bar

Lunch: Baked chicken breast, steamed zucchini, white rice

Snack: Smart pop white cheddar popcorn

Dinner: a crap ton of 5 layer dip with chips

My workout was really fun. I feel like I did fairly well. I can feel my body getting stronger and building stamina. Can’t wait until tonight for day 12!!!!!

Fitness Journal: Day 8

It’s sort of day 7 but I skipped a day because somehow I got off schedule. So I took my rest day yesterday when it should have been my final workout of the week. I’m not sure how this got mixed up but regardless I am here, and I have completed day 8. It was pretty killer.

My arms feel like jello and I’m curious to know what tomorrow will be like trying to hold my 20lb son. Oh dear, now that I’m typing it I am dreading it more and more. My son is a tad bit spoiled and likes to be held 98% of his day.

The good news is that I feel challenged and I love feeling challenged. I guess the focus for this week is to keep meals protein based and I think I can do a pretty good job of that

I’m tired. It’s late. Good night.

Fitness Journal: Day 6

Well, hello. I have decided to start success journaling and this is all thanks to Bikini Body Mommy founder Briana Christine. I’m trying her challenge which is for 90 days. I sort of regret not starting the journal thing from the beginning but better late than never, right?

Today is day 6 and I can say that it feels good. I’m past my sore phase and the first few days were definitely killer. I’ve succeeded at drinking more water and I am surprised. I used to be so good at drinking water and then I started going on this soda binge. Yuck! I know.

I’ve also made improvements to my diet. I can’t say that I’ve been making good decisions 100% of the time but definitely made better decisions in comparison.

I haven’t been keeping track of my reps which I intend to do next week. Actually I can start today.

I guess we’ll see how today goes!!! Progress is my goal.
